I'm a terrible, terrible person.

Had a reunion of sorts at a friend's wedding. Managed to attach names to most faces. Something my close friends would tell you is not something I'm particularly good at. Which of course didn't help convincing some people that of retinence, not snobbiness.

Had a conversation with a pretty good ol friend, whom though I remained in contact, have not actually met for pretty good ol time. Was told that one of my trainees was a friend. Thought that was interesting, the second of one of those it's-a-small-world kinda tidbit of the night.

It took me a good night sleep and the whole of the next morning before something that had been niggling at me finally dawned with great mortification. I KNEW that friend's friend who was my trainee. I've had lunch together, studied together with them back in uni.

Frankly, she hadn't changed that much since then. And yet I had no recognition whatsover in the months that we were interacting as colleagues. Ok, neither did she (I HOPE!), but then at least I had changed in my outward appearance since uni. And there had been incident when a friend realised who I was beyond a certain piece of rectangular material only halfway through the group-dinner!

But anyways, although it's already close to the year's halfway mark. My resolution this year is to try much much harder to remember people even if in my line of work especially there's way too many faces that I constantly encounter.

So should there come a day when we meet and I don't seem to recognise you, please remember that when you had known me, you'd known me as a pretty nice person, right? Just one that with all the perfectionistic tendencies, is of course not perfect at all. But in fact can be pretty muddle-brained. So please scold me then, and remind me that my 2006 resolution apparently did not go so well.

1 mulled it over:

ouh, tell me about it! i was at the dentist just now when a nurse peered down at my card and with a kindly smile, she asked...

"are you MD from ^SS?"

she could remember that i was from express class and that i was a head prefect (to which, i had to correct her coz i wasn't!) and dah nak balik gitu, baru teringat...

"are you the SZ that had REALLY long hair back then and who was a class chairman of 412?"
