Is outsourcing the best way to go?
'The talk on the ground is that there is no job security, even in the government service. People somehow expect the Government to act differently from the private sector, which is primarily profit-driven. Has the Government explored other ways of enhancing efficiency? Instead of outsourcing the functions, can it redesign jobs to enhance their value and generate higher productivity?'
~ LABOUR MP HALIMAH YACOB, raising questions on the Government's plan to test in the market 20 per cent of its non-core activities
headache drawing up agenda for a long overdued staff review... now all the more urgent with the release of Best Sourcing notification... ironically all these pple are so clueless! heard there's a mass-exodus in one of the cluster... dono how true... but there's definitely one resignation in our cluster too... reasons unclear... but heard "weather" there been "cloudy" :] unsure if that was the reason contributing to the attrition, or if the attrition was the reason contributing to the cloudy weather... ;]
coz saw MrC (not as cheery as always) when he came over for some urgent thang the other day... something seems to be up, but we're not sure what... related or not... Supt dun seem as "excited" to meet us this year... usually at this time, we are organising the 2nd meeting already...
was laughing at CC that he'd also been clueless abt the JAL going online this year... HQ was pretty smooth when I was tehre... but heard CPFB not coping so well... wonder if they'll outsource next year... :P... or if it'll just get pushed to schs... *rolls eyes*
on another note... wonder why chickenpox will always make an appearance during the exam period... does someone go around with a jab to inflict chickpenpox or something?? was just checking out this boy yesterday (to which NDZ told me to be careful... LOL... later will tease him whetehr he's been down b4... hehe) and banished him to the back of the office... i mean 1st sign he's really sick is that the usually-bubbly boy looked so miserable, then noticed he kept scratching and found that he had spots all over!! poor fella... he had to take his last exam with his arm in a cast and now this! today heard a P6 boy is also down... on a brighter note hopefully any infection would be done now way b4 the PSLEs... :]
