In the (always debatable, of course) wisdom of Dr Grey...
" At the end of the day, there are some things you just can't help but talk about. Some things we just don't want to hear, and some things we say because we can't be silent any longer. Some things are more than what you say, they're what you do. Some things you say because there's no other choice. Some things you keep to yourself. And not too often, but every now and then, some things simply speak for themselves. "
... and some things they don't. Actually maybe they do, just that we somehow refuse to acknowledge it. Timing is everything. But everything needs time. I am a dreamer. A dreaming. But apparently I'm not The dream. Time and again I try to stop from falling but I've yet to reach The end of it. Or maybe, the solution was to go back up to the beginning.
So typical that I don't sleep just to finish a book to get it out of my head. Then the end makes me sleepless still. Since I'm not getting that much sleep on a typical workday, maybe I need a new way to pass my leisure time on weekends. Mum was just commenting earlier in the day that I should get rid of my books coz there's apparently way too many and it's apparently cluttering the room too much. What??! Rid of my precious precious books??? *horrors* Nat, can I interview for a job to actually read your books & write an actually accurate review? Think that would be the next perfect dream job. Just below trying & reviewing gadgets of course. Which is just below shopping for other people.

p/s - Did you dream up the date you forgot? *winks*
I just accidentally knocked one of my unshelved books off its former position. Anyway, everyone here don't really care much about books lah. The media either gets its reporters to read the books, but they will usually skim through. They used to hire more freelancers to review books, but now dah kena budget cuts agaknya, so not so much. The half-baked reviews you see are a result of everyone's careless attitude - why bother spending so much time reading a book, when we can get reviews from foreign media, or just devote a paragraph to the book by skimming through it? Anyway, Singaporeans don't read, most don't know or care if any reviews is accurate ke tak.
So, from my bitterness, I don't think you can make a career from book reviewing, sadly. ;-)
Id@: My Dad will be happy that I'm living up to his choice of name as a Cahaya Petunjuk... haha Maybe my voice wun change, but despite my best efforts at restraint, I've shrieked at someone before to follow my directions... *blush*
I didn't dream up a date. I just asked outright. ;)
restlessly: Aww, I'm cccrushed... Why did you have to crash me back down to reality that BYTES big time? Hehe... Deep breaths, Huda... They are just colleagues, not friends... ;)
Oops... when I said "everyone here", I meant Singaporean society in general, not people I work with. Singaporeans generally don't read much, so as a result, the media does a crappy job when it comes to featuring & reviewing books as well.
As for the people I work with, well, it's my belief that the book-lovers in Singapore are all already in the industry, actually. :)
