People who've been dropping off the radar have been making their re-appearances lately (or maybe I was the one who dropped off theirs, but since they made the contact, I believe the former to be true-er hehe).
Such exciting news that there's yet one more mummy-to-be in the midst. That baby bonus thingy sure worked! Insyallah there's going to be so many new young members come raya (and I'm going to be even more "broken" starting this year!).
It sure is nice to receive such good news after not hearing from each other for a while. But it's still nice to hear from old friends, even if there's nothing really exciting to tell.
Someone from the old high school clique got in touch recently. Since leaving school, we had only managed to periodically accidentally bump into each other in some bus or mrt.
But last we met at a wedding, found out that he had also became a fellow servant of civil society, albeit different facets, and thus found an easy way to keep in touch. We also friendstered each other, and was amusing to see the connections in our network.
I also ran into an old senior from madrasah recently. And a junior from Dance.
Some of these people are those I used to see almost every day, some not as close, but unfailingly the re-encounters were pleasant.
But I've seen before a schoolmate I was on pretty good terms with (as far as my knowledge) working in one of the major bookshops. And he was doing his darnest not to meet my eye and trying to hide his ID-badge. Made me wonder if I had somehow offended him? Or was he feeling awkward having to "service" me?
Do I really look so "atasan" as some friends teased me (The latest comment was that I was eating instant noodles like I was in some 1st-class restaurnt. Hello? How gluttony do you expect me to be?) that some old friends would not want to approach me? I find that a stretch, when strangers often come up to me to ask for directions, or just make plain old small talk!
But since there are people who are still fast friends, who instead of coming up to me, chose to message me that they had seen me... SIGH. A favour, folks? Please do not waste your sms, please do come up to say hi. I'm not being snobbish, I'm just too blur to notice you in a crowd!
PS: To the mummy-to-be-s and the under-the-weather-s, do take good, good, good care of yourselves yah. Hope you shall all be in the pinkiest pink of health!
